General Manager of the West Central Railway, Shailendra Kumar Singh inaugurated the video surveillance system for better monitoring of security arrangements at railway stations, recently. Speaking on the occasion, GM S K Singh said that continuing the best services to passengers, the Railways has started another significant service especially for safety and security of women and children passengers.
The VSS will help monitoring of security arrangements at all the railway stations from the Security Control Room established at Jabalpur Railway Station. On the occasion, Chief Manager (Director/Railtel), Punit Chawla informed that VSS project has been completed at 239 railway stations in the country till November 30, 2020. Centralized monitoring centres are being established at five regional trains while remaining works are being carried out on war footings. It may be noted that under the head of Nirbhaya Nidhi project, Railway Board has approved the establishment of video surveillance system 983 railway stations in the country.
In the series, Railtel Corporation of India Limited has installed IP based Video Surveillance System at 15 railway stations including Jabalpur, Piparia, Katni, Maihar, Satna, veillance.. Rewa, Damoh, Sagar, Hoshangabad, Habibganj, Vidisha, Bina, Kota, Savai Madhopur and Bharatpur. VSS will monitor security arrangements at waiting rooms, reservation counters, parking places, main entrance and exit points, platforms, foot over bridges, booking offices and other places. CCTV cameras have been connected through optical fibre of Railtel APLS Backbone Cable and its videos are relayed 27×7 at multiple-screen at RPF Posts and Centralised Security Control Room.
