Vision-Box has announced the successful implementation of over 150 biometric touchpoints at two of Indonesia’s busiest airports: Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The project is a collaboration with the Directorate General of Immigration – Republic of Indonesia and Sinergi Teknoglobal Perkasa. This initiative aims to bolster Indonesia’s border security and enhance passenger experience.
According to Maneesh Jaikrishna, Managing Director of Vision-Box in the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Africa, the biometric rollout aligns with Indonesia’s ambitious modernisation objectives. “We are excited to support Indonesia’s ambitious modernisation goals and enhance passenger experiences at its key airports. Our deployments at Jakarta and Bali airports demonstrate our commitment to providing world-class biometric solutions that meet the highest standards of security and efficiency,” said Jaikrishna.
The introduction of Automated Border Control (ABC) Seamless Gates is a significant part of this biometric deployment. These gates are expected to reduce waiting times and streamline immigration processes. Industry projections indicate that Indonesia’s air travel market could surpass 200 million passengers annually by 2030, making efficiency improvements at major airports increasingly critical.
The deployment at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Ngurah Rai International Airport reflects Indonesia’s broader strategy to handle increasing passenger numbers while maintaining robust security measures. The touchpoints employ biometric technologies, including facial recognition, which works to expedite the boarding and immigration processes for passengers.
The initiative posits Indonesia as a forward-thinking nation that is embracing technology to improve its international travel infrastructure. Biometric touchpoints are designed to offer a seamless and secure travel experience by minimising the need for manual checks, thereby accelerating the overall process.
Vision-Box’s biometric solutions have been crafted to meet international standards for security and efficiency, ensuring reliability and user-friendliness. The company aims to support the evolving needs of modern airports, which require sophisticated technology to manage large volumes of travellers effectively.
This development is a noteworthy milestone for Indonesian airports at a time when global air travel is gradually recovering and the demand for efficient, secure travel processes is growing. The country’s readiness to adopt such pioneering technology highlights its commitment to improving both security and user experience for travellers.
