Vishak Raman has joined Cisco India. In his new role, he will lead the tech giant Cisco’s Security Architecture Sales for India and SAARC. Vishak quit FireEye last month after a short ten-month stint as India head at the cybersecurity company. Vishak joined FireEye last August as senior regional director for India and SAARC. Vishak’s designation will be Director, Security Architecture Sales, Cisco India and SAARC, confirmed Cisco in an official statement. Cisco has been focusing largely on the security market globally since past couple of years through its extensive portfolio of home-grown products and also through a number of strategic acquisitions.
“Security is a top IT priority for almost every customer we talk to,” said Cisco about the importance of security market in India. “We believe that security solutions play an important role in securing the digital economy. Security creates a competitive advantage for companies by safeguarding business interests and protecting customers.”
Vishak’s appointment builds on the recent security announcements Cisco has made in India and reaffirms the company’s long-term commitment to the country, a strategic centre of country digitization and innovation, the statement said. Today, CISOs and CIOs are building an architecture in their security posture in a hyper-connected world. Several vendor companies including Cisco are headed in that direction, as the digital world demands the need for such an approach. Vishak leading the architecture sales for the security arm for Cisco reaffirms this industry trend.
The statement mentioned that Cisco’s security strategy is focused on delivering a unified threat-centric security architecture that combines network-based, cloud-based and endpoint-based solutions, and provides customers with more effective security outcomes and a secure foundation to digitize their assets.
