The Tenon Group has launched Tenon Talks, an interactive online series of webinars building meaningful dialogue among expert opinion makers on facility management and security, given the need for dynamic innovation in the current times. The first part of this series explored – ‘Workplace 2.0: Emerging norms of Integrated Security & Facility Management’. The expert panel comprising Col Harinder Bana, Associate Director – Global Security, PepsiCo, Ms Asha Pathania, AVP, Housekeeping, PVR Cinemas, Mr Firoze Hussain, CSO, Delhivery and Mr Amit Mangla, Senior VP, Max Life Insurance, discussed various issues in returning to work and the best practises that individual companies were adopting to ensure returning to work safely.
The online session that attracted over 500 registrations, discussed at length how companies were handling the new normal. Major Manjit Rajain said that companies needed to discuss best practices and innovate according to their needs. He said striking a balance was the need of the hour in the new normal. Ms Pathania said that there was always a danger of overdoing. She said that there was a need to learn lessons from successes and failures of other experiments and listen to customers’ expectations.
Col Bana said that collaboration of multiple departments was needed because this integration is now needed for enhancing skill sets. He emphasised that there was a need to invest in training and stay prepared and to work your way around the problem as it exists now. Mr Amit Manga related how his company which had to shut all offices relied on innovations to keep customer confidence intact. He said Covid had enhanced the need to multitask and that would be what would be needed from hereon.
Mr Feroze Hussain said that being in constant touch with the government helped and constant motivating of staff ensured that deliveries were done safely. He said that all their warehouses have now gone contactless and they were innovating constantly to further enhance safety.
Mr Angad Rajain, in his closing remarks said that there was a need to be wary of false information that is constantly floating around regarding the virus. He said that what Covid has made as an established SOP now is that sanitation is the way of life now and more and more concentration will be made on hygiene and sanitisation. Mr Rajain said that the security and facility management industry supports the government’s efforts in pandemic management and it was essential to continue to be prepared.
