The Telangana government has notified the Telangana Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Rules, 2022 to regulate the functioning of private security agencies. Home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali tabled the rules in the Assembly recently.
The rules state that every security agency has to submit an application to the government for grant of licence. The agency should do a background check on employees including for any criminal antecedents.
The licensee or anyone of the group forming the agency should complete training relating to the private security services within three months of the grant of licence, at an institute recognised by the controlling authority which will frame the training syllabus.
At entry level, the training is for 100 hours of classroom instruction and 60 hours of field training, spread over at least 20 working days. Ex-servicemen and former police personnel would need 40 hours of classroom instructions and 16 hours of field training over seven working days.The minimum education for guards is Class 8, for supervisors Intermediate or SSC with two years of experience as security guard, and working knowledge of Telugu, Hindi and English. Minimum height is 160 cm, corresponding weight besides eye sight, hearing etc.
