Tech5 has launched, in partnership with ID R&D, a biometric eKYC deployment for users in India which the companies say is the first of its kind to provide secure mobile access to government services.
The solution integrates biometric facial recognition and active liveness detection technology from Tech5 with ID R&D’s passive facial liveness detection for two configurable layers of anti-spoofing. ID R&D’s passive facial biometric liveness solution passed iBeta Presentation Attack Detection testing in January, and the company published a white paper on active and passive liveness detection in February.
Government and private sector customers can leverage the combined offering to deliver strong authentication and security for mobile devices and server-based solutions.
“The combination of both our companies’ strengths in top tier biometric technology as well as advanced liveness detection services, resulted in a winning proposition,” said Rahul Parthe, chairman and co-founder of TECH5. “And we plan to extend our cooperation by including ID R&D’s award-winning voice biometrics offering in the TECH5 online and offline suite of authentication solutions.” Future plans for the strategic growth-acceleration partnership between the two companies include further expanding in India, and tapping into Africa, other Asian countries and the Middle East.
“This relationship draws on two strong teams’ collective geographic, vertical and technology expertise to drive mutual growth opportunities and market advantages,” said John Amein, SVP at ID R&D. The COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in an increased demand for biometric technology that enables digital identity management and contactless authentication to enforce social distancing and support remote work and online transactions. Tech5 is also offering a biometric rapid deployment kit to help businesses develop and implement touchless biometrics for COVID-19 crisis management.
