Surakshit Pune Awards 2024’ Ceremony Concludes Successfully

“The swift and efficient investigation conducted by Pune Police in the recent Porsche case demonstrates that the law is equal for everyone. The prompt arrest of the accused, without succumbing to financial or social pressures, underscores the fairness of our judicial system and strengthens public trust in the police,” stated Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, IPS. Speaking at the ‘Surakshit Pune Awards 2024’ ceremony, he emphasised that this impartial approach diminishes criticism while fostering confidence in the police force.

Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the Chief Guest of the event, lauded the importance of a vigilant and cooperative citizenry in enhancing safety. Organised by Team SymX in partnership with Pune Security Professionals (PSP) and ASIS Pune Chapter as knowledge partners, the ceremony also featured distinguished guests, including Air Marshal (Retd.) Bhushan Gokhale, the brand ambassador for the Surakshit Pune initiative, and Pune Chief Fire Officer Shri Devendra Potphode.

“Pune, with its population exceeding 8 million, is a dynamic city that demands continuous vigilance.

While modern tools, resources, and technologies enable effective policing, the role of citizens in staying alert and reporting suspicious activities is crucial,” added Commissioner Kumar. He encouraged citizens to adopt advanced security technologies, such as CCTV systems, and to actively collaborate with the police for a safer city environment.

Shri Devendra Potphode expressed gratitude for the recognition given to security personnel,
acknowledging the challenges faced by first responders, such as dense populations, congested streets, and under-prioritised safety measures in industrial areas. “Despite limited resources, the fire brigade remains committed to efficient service delivery,” he stated.

Air Marshal (Retd.) Bhushan Gokhale highlighted the connection between internal and external security and national security. He urged citizens, particularly the younger generation, to leverage innovative approaches in addressing modern security challenges, ensuring a safer future.

The event also honoured police, traffic police, and fire brigade personnel for their exemplary service. Institutions and individuals setting high safety standards in various sectors, including hospitality, education, corporate spaces, retail, and housing, were recognized for their efforts.

Among the honourees were The Ritz-Carlton (Safe Hotel), DBS Bank (Safe Bank), GG International School, Bash Chassis Systems India Pvt. Ltd., Mahindra Royale Co-op Housing Society, Amanora Mall, Tata Communications, WeWork India Management Pvt. Ltd., and others. Special awards were also given to Integrated Security Operation Centre – HSBC Bank, Business Continuity and Incident Management – HSBC Software Development India Pvt. Ltd., and security teams from global entities like the Bank of New York. CBRE was awarded innovative security technology team of the year for its revolutionary and game changing ERP application for security operations – ATOM.

The ceremony also honoured outstanding individuals, including Ambrish Purohit, Rajendra Sonawane, Kiran Chinchore, and Jyoti Meena. The ‘Tigers of Pune’ award recognized exceptional contributions by Jasmine Shaikh, Mayur Pansare, Kiran Potdar, Ganesh Kamble, Sonu Pandey, Bhanudas Akolkar, Rajat Kabdal, Gajanand Thoke, and Neel Gaikwad.

The evening’s standout moments included the presentation of the “Alert Citizen of the Year” award to Ayush Jamalamakada and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to Colonel Sandeep Sudan for his remarkable contributions to the security fraternity and society.

The event, hosted by Kashyata Bhatia, began with a welcome address by Purvesh Gada, founder of Team SymX, a global risk advisory company. The ceremony concluded on a high note, celebrating excellence in safety, security, and public service.
