The Jamshedpur district police administration has initiated a programme to train private guards for security jobs at shopping malls and housing complexes. The police have started a programme where private security agency officials and guards are being briefed on several points by the officer in-charge of the local police station.
Birsanagar police station convened one such briefing programme. “We are positive and confident about the initiative. This exercise shall make the private security guards more vigilant and active,” maintained an official in the SSP office.
“Points such as compulsory installation of CCTV cameras in the building, keeping record of mobile number of each flat occupant, keeping an eye on visitors, regular maintenance of the log book and keeping mobile number of officer in-charge of the local police station, PCR mobile van were shared with us,” said Sanjay Kumar, official of a private security agency at the briefing. All the police stations of the city shall witness such briefings in the near future.
The training will start for security personnel guarding commercial buildings, jewellery shops and banks soon. Police records state that two incidents of robbery have taken place every alternate day across 10 police station areas within the city in the last few months. In March, SSP Anoop T Mathew had launched a dialogue with the residents to work out a mutual support network in order to check theft incidents.
