The SECURITY TODAY KNOWLEDGE SUMMIT 2019 that took place at the Jio Talks Auditorium, Reliance Corporate Park, Mumbai on August 28, held a large gathering of security industry experts spell bound as it once again proved why it is a much awaited event. The large gathering enthusiastically participated in the day long event.
The welcome address delivered by SECURITY TODAY Group Editor Mr GB Singh indicated what the event had in store for the audience. The Keynote Address was delivered by Sh. GK Pillai, former Union Home Secretary of India, which set the stage for a series of presentations and panel discussions throughout the day.
The first panel discussion was on “Productivity Enhancement of Security Manpower – Role of Design, Thinking & Automation”. Newer technologies and better processes can bring down the cost of human resource and build efficiencies. Security Guard Services should not be any different, they need to adapt to today’s business marketplace environment to add value for their clients.
This session explored the ways and means of how to maximise efficiencies, including the use of modern technology, which can be built to deliver value to the end-user within assigned budgets. The panel moderator for the discussion was Mr. Gopal Choudhary, Chief of Security and Brand Protection, Tata Steel; Mr. Rituraj Sinha, Group Managing Director, SIS Enterprises; Brig. Rajan Oberoi, Global CEO, Tenon Group; Mr. Warren Gladstone, Chair, ASIS Bengaluru Chapter & VP & CSO, Crest, Hinduja Global Solutions, and Mr. Aniruddha Dandekar CPP, CBCP – Associate Director, Corporate Security, TIAA Global Business Services
This was followed by a Keynote Presentation by Mr Rajan Luthra – Chairman’s Office – Head-Special Projects, Reliance Industries Limited, where he discussed how Deep Tech is Impacting Security. Deep Tech are a set of disruptive technologies that are changing every part of our lives. This session unveiled insights on how the job of every person in the Security Industry from a Guard to the CSO is impacted by these amazing technologies.
The next panel discussion was on “Cybercrime, the untamed beast”! If there’s one thing that stands out about our fight against cybercrime – it is the malaise that is spreading far deeper, wider and faster than we are prepared to tackle it. When cyber-crimes occur the CSO and CISO both need to get involved in not only handling the incident but in coordinating with the judicial and law enforcement agencies. This session uncovered key aspects that senior security professionals should be aware of in dealing with cybercrime incidents.
The session was chaired by Mr. Brijesh Singh, IPS Special-IG Cyber Crime, Maharashtra Police with Adv. Puneet Bhasin – International Cyber Law Expert, Privacy & Data Protection & GDPR, Cyber Crimes; Mr. Akhilesh Tuteja, Global Co-Leader – Cyber Security, KPMG; Col. Shakti Sharma, Head Security & Loss Prevention, Reliance Jio Infocomm, and Mr. Sanjeev Tiwari, CPP, Chair, ASIS Mumbai Chapter & Associate Director – Forensic & Security, PwC amongst the panelists.
The next keynote presentation – Strategic Risk and Crisis Management was delivered by Dr. David Rubens, D.SyRM, CSyP, F.ISRM, FSyI, Executive Director, Institute of Strategic Risk Management, (ISRM) U.K. The subject “Crisis 2030: What Do We Need To Know” highlighted that it is time that we realised the increasingly uncertain risks that we face, which create challenges for strategic risk and crisis decision makers that require a new way of thinking, and an understanding of the corporate culture that will allow those organisations to develop the risk-sensitive and crisis ready capabilities appropriate to the 21st century risk environment.
The final panel discussion of the much awaited event was on “The Biggest Trends We’ve Seen in ‘Integrated Security Operations Centre’ So Far. This discussion delved into how the traditional Security Control Rooms have evolved to be known as Control & Command Centres to C3i (Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence) Centers to C4i (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information) Centers. The panel moderator was Mr Rajan Luthra – Chairman’s Office – Head-Special Projects, Reliance Industries Limited with Mr. Sudhi Sinha, Vice President & General Manager at Johnson Controls, USA; Sh. Sanjay Kumar, IPS – Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai, and Mr. NSN Murty, Partner & Leader – Smart Cities, PwC India.
The secure environs of the Reliance Corporate Park was an added incentive to the gathering who sat through the day long event to soak in the security knowledge that STKS 2019 provided. A large number of people had flown in from other states and countries to attend the event and gave a thumbs up to the event. Significantly, the attendees too exhorted the audience to return to Navi Mumbai for the next edition of STKS next year.
