The Haryana New and Renewable Energy Department will provide solar street lights and solar high mast lights at an estimated cost of Rs 21 crore in the current financial year to reduce the dependence on conventional electricity for streetlights in rural areas of Haryana. To enhance security and prevention of untoward incidents in villages, the department will also provide solar CCTV cameras with high mast lights.
Giving information in this regard, Additional Chief Secretary, New and Renewable Energy Department, PK Das said under its demand-based SPV Street Lighting Programme, New and Renewable Energy Department had made a provision of state financial assistance (subsidy) of Rs 4 crore in the annual plan of the current financial year for providing 5,000 LED-based solar street lighting systems of 12 Watt at the rate of Rs 4,000 per system and 1,000 LED-based solar high mast lighting systems of aggregate 88 Watt LED with CCTV cameras at the rate of Rs 20,000 per system.
