The Private Security Industry that employs over 7 million people in India is among the largest employers in the country, has finally caught the Government’s attention after many years of lobbying to make itself heard, by one of its own getting nominated, for the first time to the Central Advisory Board of the Ministry of Labour and Employment as per its notification of 18th November 2016. Mr. Rituraj Sinha, the Chief Operating Officer of the SIS Group is now the Private Security Industry’s voice in the Labour Ministry.
Apart from the usual representatives from Labour Unions and the Chambers of Commerce such as FICCI, CII etc, the ministry has nominated five independent members to the Central Advisory Board, of which Rituraj is perhaps the youngest and the only private person on board. Other independent members are, Shri B. Janardhan Reddy, Shri Pratap Sinha, Member of Parliament, Shri P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, Member, Legislative Assembly, Andhra Pradesh, Shri P. Vishnu Kumar Raju, Member, Legislative Assembly, Andhra Pradesh and Shri Tage Taki, Member, Legislative Assembly, Arunachal Pradesh
Long standing issues of the PSI such as classification of security guards as skilled are now likely to get resolved soon.
