Private security agencies advised to work with police stations to control crime in Bhubaneswar

With the miscreants targeting the apartments for looting locked flats in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police held a meeting with private security agencies to discuss the difficulties faced by them. The meeting, attended by representatives of about 50 security agencies, IsIC, Zonal ACPs, Additional DCPs was presided by Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.

While highlighting the duties and responsibilities of the security guards, the DCP suggested they interact with the staff of the police stations in their area, particularly at night, and share information.

On the suggestion of some security agencies for training of security guards, they were told to work with training orientation programmes of different security agencies. It was decided to carry out a security audit of residential buildings as well as apartments by Bhubaneswar Police at police station level.

The DCP assured them of working together and coming up with SOP for better results. Police can share information of different types of criminals in the city and have better supervision on security points, he pointed out.

It was suggested for use of identity cards by security guards from security agencies for better interaction and information sharing. Singh emphasised that security agencies can become force multipliers in controlling crime in the society and ensure security in the society.
