In yet another incident of fraud, a man was caught issuing fake police verification certificates to those who wish to aspire for private jobs in the area. He has now been arrested by Gurugram police in Haryana. The accused worked in a private firm and used to issue certificates using fake police stamps for Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 to domestic helps, security guards.
The accused has been identified as Punit. “The man was involved in such criminal activities for the past one year. We have recovered 21 fake certificates from his possession,” a report in Times of India quoted a police officer as saying. Punit used to take printouts after logging in to police websites and fill them. He then stamped the printouts with fake stamps and signatures to give them to domestic helps, security guards and tenants.
“Punit used to pass off these certificates as genuine and handed them over to needy ones,” said Sudhir Kumar, SHO Sector 18 police station. Police said none of these forms were submitted to police stations for verifications and thus there is no record at the stations.
