During the ceremony 10 guards from Peregrine Guarding Pvt. Ltd. (PGPL) who were certified last year under Recognition of Prior Learning scheme, were given badges by the chief guest. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Scheme is the scheme under PMKY, in which individuals with prior learning experience or skills in the security sector shall be assessed and certified. RPL aims to align the competencies of the unregulated workforce of the country to the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) for unarmed security guards. Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs), which include Security Sector Skill Development Council (SSSDC) for the security sector, have been incentivized under this scheme to implement RPL projects to address knowledge gaps.
While addressing the gathering, Brig. Rajan Oberoi, Group CEO, Peregrine Guarding Pvt. Ltd said; “We assure that the company will implement the scheme in totality. We believe that the scheme will not only benefit the individual guards working with the company in terms of reward money and certification but will also enable them to bridge their skills deficits, if any, by way of training provided under the scheme. The certification of the guards will help the company in establishing the quality of our workforce and help providing quality services to the respective clients. We are looking forward to participate in a big way towards the success of the PMKVY (RPL) scheme, so that the security guards get their due recognition in the industry.”
The participating guards also spoke regarding their experience and benefits of the scheme. They expressed their happiness and thanked the Govt. for giving them the opportunity to certify their prior learning which will help them for future growth in the industry. The event was also attended by 50 smartly turned out guards from all the 5 companies who will be the future beneficiaries of the scheme.
