NEC Corporation and NEC Technologies India have named Aalok Kumar as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NEC Technologies India, effective immediately, to expand global business and operations in India, the company announced. NEC Technologies India collaborates with NEC Laboratories India on the development of biometrics, big data and other solutions. Former Chairman and Managing Director, Takayuki Inaba, will serve as Executive Chairman of NEC Technologies India.
“This management restructuring exercise is aimed at accelerating our evolution in India. Capacity building in India will not only bolster our business in this country but also support our global businesses,” said Akihiko Kumagai, President of the Global Business Unit, NEC Corporation. “Aalok is an accomplished leader who brings a good mix of strategic thinking and operational excellence. His rich experience in business transformation and performance improvement, especially in Japan and other Asian markets, will help us accelerate our growth,” he added.

NEC’s offices in India employ more than 6,000 locals, while the company has developed technology for multiple sectors including infrastructure, aviation, logistics and transportation. NEC Technologies India has a head office in New Delhi, and other offices in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Noida and Surat.
Notable projects include the Chennai-Andaman submarine cable project and biometric-based paperless boarding to improve airport experience. In December, it won a contract from the Airports Authority of India to implement the company’s biometric boarding platform at four different airports in the country in support of the Digi Yatra initiative.
The Government of India and NEC partnered to establish DMICDC Logistics Data Services that develops Container tracking and optimization solutions to improve port operations and make import-export container traffic management more efficient.
