To curb the menace of drugs and cyber crime in the state, Telangana government on Wednesday launched two different police wings — Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (T-NAB) and Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TSCSB). The new units will operate from Telangana State Police-Integrated Command Control Center in Banjara Hills.
During the launch ceremony, director general of police (DGP) Anjani Kumar said that cyber component has become unavoidable both in detection of crimes and also in commission of the offences.
“T-NAB is a march towards the safety and security of the younger generation. CV Anand has raised this bureau to such a level, it will now take off. Intelligence collection, information analysis, inter-state coordination will be part of it. These verticals will get new officers once the vacancies are filled and the process is in progress,” the DGP said.
Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand, who is also the director of T-NAB, said that on the instructions of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to crack down on drug peddlers, Hyderabad-Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) was started and the experience police gained in dealing with drug peddling cases has helped them significantly. “The motto of T-NAB is – courage, commitment and combat,” Anand said.
