Through Messe Frankfurt, the organisers of Intersec, H.E. Khalifa Ibrahim Al Saleis, CEO & Executive Director Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) has issued a statement showing commitment to Intersec, still scheduled to take place from January 24th – 26th, 2021.
The statement comes as many countries are now beginning to work through the pandemic and try to get their economies restarted and their people back to work. However, some countries, including the UK, France and Spain are reportedly now beginning to experience a new rise in COVID-19 cases, and fears of regional lockdowns are once again becoming a reality.
The pandemic has already seen the cancellation of many other physical security industry events throughout 2020, including other major shows such as Ifsec, ISC West, Essen, ISC East and Messe Frankfurt’s sister event, Intersec Saudi Arabia, which cancelled for 2020 and announced a newly scheduled event to run in 2021.
The statement from H.E. Khalifa Ibrahim Al Saleis, CEO & Executive Director, Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) makes no mention of the pandemic and was delivered as follows: “The Dubai Government’s Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA) is committed to providing Dubai with the highest levels of safety and security through the implementation of international best practices in smart security systems, services and guards.
There are nearly 2,000 security providers and more than 50,000 security professionals in Dubai, and SIRA’s support of, and participation at Intersec, enables us to share our latest developments, including new laws and regulations that help maintain Dubai’s status as one of the world’s safest cities. We look forward to meeting the global commercial security community at the 23rd edition of Intersec in January 2021, where we can exchange ideas, share knowledge, and collaborate for a sustainable, safer, smarter, and more connected world.”
Organisers, Messe Frankfurt, still remain positive that the show will go ahead and have placed great emphasis on helping to make visitors and exhibitors feel safe at the venue as well as publicising the measures being taken by the international air authorities and the on the ground Dubai authorities, and Dubai World Trade Centre. Messe Frankfurt have also issued a COVID-19 set of protocols for the show, stating, amongst other things, that there will be strict social distancing rules in place, all visitors will need to wear masks, and all will be screened via contactless temperature checks prior to entering the venue through designated entrances.
