Taj Mahal security to be monitored by drone

In view of the continuing terrorist threat on the 17th century Taj Mahal, Uttar Pradesh police is expected to deploy drone cameras for round the clock monitoring of the security at the monument. Additional Director General of Police (ADG)- Security, Gopal Gupta, who reviewed the security at the Taj along with other officials, said the security at Taj would be enhanced. He said drone cameras and CCTV cameras would be deployed in and around the Taj.

For the first time, the CCTV cameras would be fitted with Wi-Fi system. Agra has already got eight drone cameras while a decision to install 48 CCTV cameras on the outer circle of the Taj was on hold. The decision was announced a year ago but till now it has not been implemented. SSP Rajesh D Modak said Agra police have received eight drones of which two are likely to be deployed for security purpose at the Taj.
