MHA issues compulsory fire drill notification

The Directorate General FS, CD & HG has sent a notification to all chief secretaries directing them to ensure that fire drills are held frequently at all schools, colleges, malls and other places where there are frequent gatherings.

The notification was issued on the instructions of the Prime Minister who stressed the need of these drills at the annual DGP’s Conference. The notification is in addition to the existing order on holding a fire evacuation drills at all schools on January 21 every year.

The drills will be carried out in association with NGOs and active participation of local fire authorities. The notification exhorted the relevant organization to participate in these drills to enhance fire safety awareness in the country
