Gujarat Cops get smartphone access to city’s CCTV cameras

Top cops in Ahmedabad will now be able to see live footage on their cellphones from CCTV cameras installed in malls, multiplexes and clubs. The move comes in the wake of the recent terror threat issued by al-Qaida. Cops have initiated a move to take administrators of such installations into confidence and link their CCTV coverage to cellphones of senior police officials. “We have already linked CCTV footage of a restaurant located on SG Road to our cellphones and are trying to connect with cameras installed at other installations too,” said Joint Commissioner of Police, Sector-1, Manoj Agarwal.
