Commissioner Bassi sends Delhi Police back to school with new mandatory test

Delhi’s men in khaki are again dusting up their books and revising their lessons, as they have to now sit for a test. Those taking the examination will even include officers of the rank of special commissioners and joint commissioners. Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi has asked the cops, including SHOs, to pull up their socks for the upcoming test.

For the first time, Delhi Police are planning to start a test that will be mandatory for everyone barring the top four officers. According to sources, this test will help to bring transparency in posting of SHOs while also brushing up their skills.

The original proposal for holding this test was only for SHOs as Delhi Police were facing criticism in their appointment but Bassi has said it will be mandatory for every officer. Currently, there is no transparent procedure for posting SHOs. Currently, a Delhi Police team is working on this project.  Few hours prior to Independence Day, while addressing a meeting, the Delhi Police Commissioner praised the proposal of taking the test of the officers and said that this test is a good idea. He also said that all excluding Delhi Police Commissioner and three Senior Special Commissioners will have to take the test.

Anyone appearing for this online test will get results immediately after submitting answers.  Importantly, a copy of the answers given by a candidate will be saved in the server, the sources added. “This test will be applicable for every unit, including traffic, special cell, crime branch, PCR, districts, etc,” a senior official added
