The Centre has revealed that India has started installing high resolution surveillance cameras along the border with China. Surveillance systems for different sectors of the border were developed and reviewed in accordance with operational requirements. However, disclosure of details in this regard will not be in the interest of national security, The Minister for Defence, Manohar Parrikar, informed the Lok Sabha, replying to a question on the issue.
In reply to a separate question, the Defence Minister said that the Government has taken cognizance of the development of infrastructure by China along the India-China border, including Arunachal Pradesh. The Government has prepared a holistic and comprehensive plan to develop and upgrade infrastructure along the Indo-China border to meet the operational requirements of the defence forces. At least 73 roads were identified as strategic Indo-China border roads, out of which 61 roads have been entrusted to the Border Roads Organisation.
