The Cyberabad cops have mooted a nodal agency to keep an eye on likely trouble-makers among the three lakh private security personnel working in the IT hubs of Madhapur and Gachibowli. “There are 2-3 lakh security guards working in scores of IT firms in the IT hub areas. We need to create a nodal agency to maintain a data bank, with information on the security personnel. It will keep a record of their errant and criminal behaviour,” Cyberabad Commissioner of Police, V. C. Sajjanar, has said.
This data will be handy for companies to verify their credentials and keep them off the rolls. Sajjannar was addressing a meeting of the Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) to take stock of the security preparedness in the IT areas. The SCSC has been established by the IT companies to coordinate with the local police, to ensure the safety and security of people and properties.
He offered to train all the security guards in improving their tactics and intelligence gathering skills. “It will help them quickly get in touch with the police if they find something suspicious,” he said. Stating that CCTVs played a big role in solving cases, he asked the heads of security wings of various IT firms to collect donations in order to have more closed-circuit cameras in the Cyberabad area. “We have installed 85,000 cameras in the last 18 months. There is a need for another 1,15,000 cameras to cover the whole area,” he said.
