A special cell to streamline the operations of private security agencies to ensure that they are registered and their guards verified has been set up by police. At present, there are more than 500 registered private security agencies in Gurgaon. Along with this, many unregistered agencies are operating too. The cell, which will be headed by an inspector-level officer will prepare the data of all such agencies and the people working with them.
“The special cell will work under DCP (HQ),” said Gurugram Commissioner Mohammad Akil. He added that a meeting was held with the owners of the private security agencies. He said more than one lakh people are working with private security agencies and it is important for police to have their details. “We will scan the agencies operating without licence or permission and will take action against them,”.
Police directed security agency owners to ensure verification of guards and supervisors, and made it mandatory to furnish their Aadhaar details. “Security guards should be given proper training before they are employed or posted at an organisation,” Akil said.
