The Sindh apex committee in Pakistan has decided that private security agencies operating in the province will not be allowed to employ any foreign national nor will they be allowed to operate under any foreign partnership. The apex committee of Sindh also decided to raise a special security force for providing security services to Chinese nationals working on development projects in Sindh.
The meeting of the apex committee of Sindh was held at the Chief Minister’s House with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali in the chair while others in attendance included Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan, Corps Commander of Karachi Lt-General Naveed Mukhtar, Director-General of Sindh Rangers Major-General Bilal Akbar, Inspector-General of Sindh Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali, Sindh Chief Secretary Muhammad Siddique Memon and other senior security, intelligence and government officials.
Sindh Senior Minister for Information Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while briefing the media after the meeting said that scrutiny of affairs of 67 private security agencies had been completed while this scrutiny process would be widened to cover the total number of 257 such security agencies operating in Sindh. The provincial information minister said that under the scrutiny process it would be ensured that all these private security firms were properly registered and security clearances of all the employees obtained.
He said the government had decided to ensure that the security personnel of these private firms underwent proper training under the supervision of police, and that the managements of the private security agencies would bear the expenses in this regard. The senior minister said the apex committee had decided that due focus would be maintained by the government authorities over affairs of these private security firms.
