Delhi Police’s web-based application for Character Verification Report (CVR) has been launched by Commissioner BS Bassi. “With the help of this App, the applicants will be provided digitally signed CVRs within 30 days instead of 45 and more days that were consumed in the manual process,” said Garima Bhatnagar, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Branch). The Special Branch of Delhi Police deals with verification of character and antecedents of candidates for employment in government, semi-government, public sector undertakings and other departments.
Character verification of employees of private firms is also conducted on request of employers concerned. Fee is charged from the employers for such CVRs. The App will save around 3-5 working days and Rs. 10-15 lakh expenditure on issuing CVRs. Besides, it will also spare at least 20 persons out of 28 presently dealing with the CVR procedure in Special Branch alone.
The App provides online facility for registration and filing of personal details and documentation for character verification report. It also handles multiple application submissions (up to 100) in a single click and payment can be done online. The Special Branch issues around 75,000-80,000 CVRs annually which outlines usefulness of the App launched by Delhi Police, she said.
