The core philosophy and CSR vision of Peregrine is to work towards a sustainable development of society by contributing in the fields of education, health, hygiene, environment and skill development. The company started its CSR program by adopting a Government school in Jhajjhar, Haryana – Rajkiya Uchch Vidyala, by refurbishing its building, providing a water-cooler and construction of new toilets
The first phase of work included:
Complete renovation of the hall and adjoining verandah which included:
• Leveling of the floor,
• Laying and polishing of kota stones,
• Waterproofing of the walls and ceiling,
• Tiling of the walls, painting of the hall, fixing of the doors, windows & ventilator.
• Painting of the hall & verandah
• Putting all light fixtures and fans
• Construction of 6 toilets – 3 for boys & 3 for girls
• Installing of the water cooler along with a storage tank and water pump
• Clearing and leveling of the play field and installing Kho Kho poles for the children to play kho kho
• Plantation drive – planting of Jamun & Neem trees for fruit and shade
The inaugural event was attended by more than 100 employees from the Corporate office. The event witnessed a huge turnout of the local populace. The enthusiastic and complete participation of the school kids and staff was both overwhelming and very encouraging. The 2 hour event included inauguration of the project by the Chairman’s mother, Mrs. Ratan Bala Rajain. It was followed by a welcome song and yoga presentation by the school children. As a mark of gratitude a special memento was presented to Major Manjit Rajain, Group Chairman by the School Principal on behalf of the staff and students. The CSR event concluded with a tree plantation followed by lunch for all present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Group Chairman, Maj Manjit Rajain said -“This initiative in the Government school is a defining moment for us. The Tenon Group has taken forward the work done in this school by my family. It was an exhilarating experience for me personally to the see the bright, eager faces of the students. It enforced my belief that we have done the right thing by supporting and empowering the students by investing in the educational and sanitation infrastructure. We intend to continue our association with the school and gradually make this into a model school.”
The Principal of the School, Mr. Raj Kumar said: “In the past 32 years of his career, he has not seen such toilets in any government school. The renovation of the hall, the construction of 6 new toilets and the installation of water cooler has definitely taken the standard of the school many notches higher. We hope and pray that Tenon continues to support and invest in the future of the students of this school.”
