Metro commuters will not be allowed to enter the station with their face covered, be it a surgical mask, muffler, pollution mask or a dupatta. The decision was taken by CISF a day after the 12-lakh robbery at Rajendra Place Metro station.A review is also being undertaken to fix loopholes in the security system at Delhi Metro, said senior officials. This would ensure that a commuter undergoes frisking before reaching the customer care cubicle or the ticket counter. “At the frisking point, everyone would be asked to uncover the face. Thus, everybody’s face will be captured by CCTV cameras. Only seriously ill patients will be allowed to keep the mask,” said an official.
It had been reported that security arrangements at a dozen stations had been beefed up following a threat mail. The step now covers 12 stations and CISF is planning to cover more. The final decision will be taken after the review is over.
