Inspector General Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Deepak Ratan has said during the past two years there has been a lot of strategic changes in SOPs, available equipment and training to the troopers to ensure the safety of the convoys on highways. He was speaking to the media at a wreath-laying ceremony held at CRPF camp in Lethpora to mark the second anniversary of the Pulwama attack in which 40 CRPF troopers were killed.
IG CRPF said now security forces are prepared to give a befitting reply to militants, he said.
“CRPF strategy has changed a lot during the last two years. The equipment has been bolstered and we are fully prepared to foil militant attacks,” he said. Ratan said CCTV cameras have been set up at various places on highways and convoy movement is being monitored by drone surveillance and movement of a convoy is being done in bulletproof bunkers.
Apart from these things, special training is being provided to road opening parties (ROP) on modern lines and have framed new SOPs to contain such incidents in future, he said. “Traffic movement on the highway is being controlled. Most of the troopers are flown in and out and more precautions are in place to avoid any incident,” he said. He said the situation in Kashmir has improved over the years and law and order incidents have been limited which is a positive move. “The top leadership of militant outfits including Jaish, Lasker and Hizbul Mujahideen-ud-din has been eliminated over the past years,” he said.
