Capt. DS Lata (ASIS Bengaluru Chapter) has been conferred the Karen Marquez Honour by ASIS International. The award to Capt. Lata, of Wipro Technologies, is a matter of great honour and pride for the security fraternity in India. This prestigious award is presented annually to 4 ASIS International security professionals. All those who have been honored and those nominated have consistently worked for the betterment of the security industry over an extended period to support, inspire and promote the industry.
Capt. Lata is a former commissioned officer from Corps of Signals, having served at Eastern Command Signal Regt, 2 STC, 2 Corps Signal Regt ( AREN) before joining Wipro Technologies. At Wipro she handles the entire gamut of physical security functions such as physical access control, visitor management, guard force management and emergency management at Wipro’s largest software development facility worldwide. She significantly contributes to business by ensuring conformance to BS 7799 standards and providing reassurance to potential and existing clients.
Mrs. Karen Marquez, in whose memory this prestigious honour is bestowed, was the co-owner and Executive Vice President of MVM, Inc. a physical security services firm based in Virginia. Karen passed away in 2006 after a long battle with cancer. During her 23-year career in security, Karen developed and implemented core administration and support functions at MVM, including finance, billing, recruiting, and human resources processes. A member of the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, and the National Association of Female Executives, Mrs. Marquez brought her hands-on expertise to global management issues.
