Cambodian Ministry delists bankrupt private security firms

The Cambodian Ministry of Interior has delisted 26 private security service providers from the ministry’s private security services list because they were no longer providing services after declaring bankruptcy last year.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Sokha said the ministry decided to delist the private security service providers because the companies declared bankruptcy after failing to pay taxes and ceased providing services.

He said that according to Sub-Decree No. 289 dated January 31, 2013, on Private Security Management, all private security service providers that have applied for business licences must provide security services, but the companies that declared bankruptcy have ceased to provide security services, he added.

“The Ministry of Interior investigated the 26 private security service providers who have business licences, but have declared themselves bankrupt and were not offering security services in accordance with Article 1 of the Sub-Decree No. 289 on Private Security Management,” Sokha wrote in a letter to the Minister of Commerce on Monday.

Sokha informed the Commerce Ministry of the decision to delist the companies as the issue involved a failure to pay taxes, adding that “The Ministry of Interior has decided to remove the names of the 26 companies from the list of authorised private security services providers.”

According to a letter from the Minister of Interior, some of the delisted companies are: C.B.I Security Co., Ltd (CBI), Lais Security Agency Co., Ltd (LSA), V&M Universal Security Co., Ltd (VM), Public Safety Agent Co., Ltd (PSA), Seung Tep Security (S.T.SCO, Ltd (STS), Cambodia Security Management Co., Ltd (CSM), Eagle Patrol Security Co., Ltd (EPS), Sahas PPSEZ Co., Ltd (SH), Staing Dek Mek Chhor Service Co., Ltd (S.DM.C), Ream Thea Cambodia Security Co, Ltd (RT), Cambodia Security Agency Ltd (CSA), Security Safety for You Co., Ltd (S.S.Y), and Oscar Security Co.
