AXIS Communications, a Swedish provider of end-to-end network video solutions, says it is highlighting cutting-edge capabilities in safety and security as well as business performance enhancements this year. The company expects the market for closed-circuit television cameras in Thailand to continue its growth trajectory after posting a 9.2-per-cent boost in 2016 to Bt4.3 billion in total value, which is expected to rise to Bt5.7 billion by 2020.
The growth of CCTV market this year will be driven by several supporting factors, including the growing need for safety and security in everyday life as well as new technological capabilities that can address business needs, he said. Axis says it sees network video as a key part of smart cities – cities with safety and security serving as a foundation for intelligent services that enhance business performance and quality of life for residents.
“We are also interested in addressing the business needs of our customers using the advanced capabilities of network video technology, such as the ability to capture high-quality, usable images in all lighting conditions or the extraction of valuable data from a video feed, which can then be applied in many ways. This can include a crowd-behaviour analysis system, face detection, or even object tracking based on colour, direction of movement, or size. All these capabilities can help reduce the amount of time spent investigating the cause of an incident and provide visual information of the highest quality,” said a senior executive.
Last year, Axis completed the acquisition of Sweden-based Cognimatics, a provider of intelligent retail solutions, to present new video solutions that elevate the performance of retail businesses. Together, Axis and Cognimatics offer solutions that allow retail stores to collect data about customer behaviour and product performance in a similar fashion to online stores while also enjoying better safety and security, which can help reduce theft-related losses.
