ASIS International’s Delhi Chapter Leads the Future of Corporate Security

The Quarter 3 ASIS Chapter meet, held on 18 July this year at Wipro Limited’s Gurugram office, marked a significant milestone in corporate security advancements. Under the leadership of Harvindra Singh, Chairman of ASIS International (Delhi Chapter), the event was meticulously organised.

With over 120 enthusiastic participants, the event’s success was evident. Wipro Limited, the principal sponsor, extended their generosity beyond providing the venue by hosting a sumptuous lunch and presenting each attendee with a delightful gift bag.

The keynote address by Col A. L. Suresh on “Setting up a Center for Excellence for Physical Security Systems and Operational Technology” captivated the audience. Col Suresh elaborated on the multifaceted role of a Center of Excellence (COE) in tech management, new technology exploration, IoT security, and addressing trends and threats unique to organizations.

A highlight of the meet was the engaging fireside chat between Umesh Kumar, VP of Physical Security, Risk & Control at NatWest Group, and Capt. Sanjay Sharma, Global Security Head at Wipro Limited.

The discussion tackled pertinent and challenging questions about the future of corporate security. When Mr. Kumar posed the choice between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence, Capt. Sharma skilfully advocated for a combination of both, emphasizing the evolving role of smart technology in business-aligned security practices. Both speakers also addressed the growing concern of deepfakes, noting the current lack of structured responses to this emerging threat.

The “Resilience Reboot” workshop, conducted by Niharika Karamchandani and Tanya Vatsa from Inquest Advisories, prompted participants to strategize responses to three critical scenarios: a ransomware attack at a global tech company, a warehouse fire, and a pandemic-induced lockdown.

The event also showcased the CSR activities led by the “Women in Security” and the “Young Professionals” Committees. In June, a workshop organized by the ASIS International New Delhi Chapter featured psychologist Prakriti Pandia, who facilitated an open discussion that fostered personal reflection and communal support.

The quarter also saw a self-defence training session for 30 girls in Lajpat Nagar, with plans to empower at least 300 more. Mr. Abhay Ranjan, who leads a boot camp for CPP, PSP, and PCI certifications, received heartfelt appreciation for his dedication to member certification, further cementing ASIS International’s reputation for fostering goodwill among security professionals globally
