The Bengaluru Chapter of ASIS organized a meeting for all security professionals in the city and affiliated areas. The meet was hosted by Amazon and coordinated by Paul Devassy CPP Amazon Security Team and ARVP ASIS International. Itt was telecast live via video conferencing for outstation ASIS members and other security professionals across the country.
The meet commenced with the opening address by Warren Gladstone, Chapter Chairperson who gave the Chapter’s broad plan for the year ahead, the meetings schedule , ASIS – OSAC shared platforms , etc. It was followed by a presentation on ASIS Board Certifications by Aditya Gurtoo CPP CFE ICPS, Chapter Vice Chairperson. The Chapter schedule for CPP review classes was also shared with the audience. Most security professionals welcomed this advance notice and were looking forward to attending the review.
Sudhir, CPP CEH CISM, welcomed the security professionals to the Amazon facility. He and his team gave a detailed run down of their work schedule with data analytics and other methodologies being adopted to secure a customer’s package. An introduction to corporate the security function across locations in India was by given Arun Nair CPP . The learning experience of the loss prevention techniques and it’s future in e commerce provided deep insights to all.
General Data Protection Regulation, to be effective from May 18, was covered by Devinder Singh CPP CFE, Chapter Treasurer. He explained the various parts of the upcoming regulation, its consequence, and actions to be initiated by users in order to be compliant. A quiz with questions from POA was also part of the event, the winners were felicitated by the Amazon Security Team. Sandeep Kumar CPP, the Chapter Secretary, thanked the attendees for their participation and invited them for a networking session over high tea.
OSAC holds its monthly meeting in style!
OSAC Delhi Chapter organised a half day learning session for its members and select invitees at the Oberoi in Gurugram on the 18th of April 2018. The event attracted speakers from the consulting and the supply chain community to make presentations on a variety of topics ranging from women’s travel safety to Cyber Security to Block Chain and CSR. The event was sponsored by SIS Enterprises, a leading security and facility management group.
Col Harendra Bana, the OSAC Chapter Chair set the ball rolling by briefly updating the members on the chapter activity and introducing the Deputy Regional Security Officer of the US Embassy in New Delhi, Mr. Daniel Hunt. Mr Hunt, in his opening address, shared his diverse experience of having served in many countries before coming to India. Ms. Shalini Paul, Sales Manager of Eco Rent A Car, made a presentation thereafter on Women’s Safety especially focused on car travel safety for ladies. She has researched the applicability of different Mobile Apps available today on women’s safety and made a detailed presentation on a new App developed by her organisation, that transports over 20,000 ladies to and from their workplaces each day.
After a sumptuous lunch Mr. Jaspreet Singh, Partner-Cyber Security at EY, made a presentation on Cyber Security as it applies to the common man which was considered by the audience as an ‘eye opener’ and highly informative. A presentation on ‘Block Chain’ technology by Mr. Ajit Nathaniel, from Hill & Associates, on cryptocurrency, demystified the latest trend and provided clarity on many of its latest facets.
Dr. Muna Ali enlightened the audience with her deep insight into CSR activities which help to break the barriers between the society and corporate organisations working at different places all over the country. She explained how a little bit of honest care and concern can bridge differences and provide a safe and fruitful association among ordinary people and large organizations.
Change of Guard at FSAI
The Fire and Security Association of India, a leading trade body, recently elected their new executive body. Mr. Pankaj Dharkar, the outgoing president of the association after a very successful 3 years at the helm of affairs, finally handed the baton to Mr. KP Dominic. Dom, as he is popularly known in industry circles, is an old Fire Industry hand, having being a founding member of FSAI and a former General Secretary, has also worked for companies such as Aditya Infotech, Mircom, DATS, Vista, and Honeywell in senior positions. Currently he is the Managing Director of Blue and Gray Management Consultants India Pvt Ltd. – a company involved in business development, database management and brand building activities for its clients.
Pankaj Dharkar has remained with the association in a newly created role as its President International. FSAI under the stewardship of Pankaj expanded from a 1200 member association to over 6500 members in 23 national chapters and 2900 student members in 11 student chapters. FSAI, under his leadership also started its own exhibition and conference called Fire & Security India Expo, among other laudable initiatives.
The other members of Dominic’s core team include Mr. Suresh Menon, MD of Schweitzer Systemtek India Pvt. Ltd.- a systems integration company, as National Secretary, and Ms. Rakhi Deepak, Managing Director at SagTaur Universal, as National Treasurer.
FSAI which is known for organising some big budget industry events has appointed Mr. Rajnish Aggarwal, MD of Adept Designs Pvt Ltd. as its Chair for Events & Programs.
